With its first concert in 2011, Harpa Concert Hall arrived on the Icelandic and European cultural scene as a force to be reckoned with. The stunning building has received much praise and won the prestigious Mies Van der Rohe award for architecture. Part of its appeal is the south façade, designed by Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Elíasson. Elíasson uses light, colours and the natural environment to play with our senses. The concert hall is the first built for this purpose in Reykjavík, so you know the sound will be amazing. It houses the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and the offices of The Icelandic Opera. If you’re in Iceland – don’t miss it!
