Emphasizing both tradition and innovation since its opening in 1913, the Vienna Konzerthaus is a staple of the Viennese music life. In fact, together with the Vienna State Opera House and the Musikverein these three play a central role in establishing Vienna’s reputation as the world’s leading music capital. The inaugural concert was such an important event, that Richard Strauss even specially composed Festliches Präludium op. 61 to be performed that night. The concert hall changes with the times, reflecting the changes in contemporary cultural and social life. The unique atmosphere found in the Wiener Konzerthaus not only attracts internationally acclaimed artists, but also forms the setting for numerous social events such as balls, conferences, dinners and festivities.
