The second most famous man from Medellin, Fernando Botero, is best known for his larger-than-life sized figures rendered both in paintings and sculpture. Twenty-three of his sculptures are on permanent display here in the Plaza de Las Esculturas, and many of his paintings, including the Death of Pablo Escobar, is hang in the Museo de Antioquia right off the square. Unlike most art, shut away in a museum, Botero's sculptures and the plaza named in his honour engage with the community in a very direct way. It's not all uncommon to see people, especially children, climbing and lounging alongside them.
