One of the most iconic buildings in the world, the Sydney Opera House doesn’t just stand out among other opera houses but has become a symbol for Sydney recognized the world over.  It’s a multi-venue performing arts centre, with two auditoriums – a large one for opera and symphonic music, and a smaller one for theatre and chamber music. The exterior resembles two sets of white shells evoking sails, a design perfectly attuned to the opera’s location on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour.  The house hosts well over 1,500 performances annually by the opera’s three resident companies: Opera Australia, the Sydney Theatre Company and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Since 2007, the Sydney Opera House has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. The opera house is unmissable, in every sense of the word.
